That’s it, we settled… While we didn’t plan to, we are now living in the beautiful province of Sichuan. But before that, before it all happened, we had some time in the gorgeous region to the South and we wanted to share with you a few photos of Yunnan.
Considered one of the poorest region of China, it’s hard to notice why. Kunming, the capital of the province, shows you where the money is and the reste of the area enjoys tourism non-stop. That reputation might come from the amount of minorities living there, with other 37 different minorities (including Yi, Naxi, etc… ), Yunnan is quickly seen as another place in China and travel there is pretty easy.
But what is it like?
While I really disliked Dali, I found the experience of Lijiang and surroundings interesting, I found Kunming peaceful for a town this size. Shangri-La was holding a very sad story though, most of the old town haven been destroyed last year, but still seemed to keep a very special charm. While we had to skip some beautiful spot like Yunyang or the Stone forest due to a lack of time (and lack of rain for the rice terraces), we are still hoping to give you a “feeling” of Yunnan through a selection of 10 photos.
Why people are such a big part of the selection? Because they make up a big part of the experience! While they might seem shy, if you try to reach them, they will open up quickly!
Are you considering a trip to Yunnan? What are you looking forward to the most?
