Thailand the land of smiles, Thailand the islands paradise, the food heaven, the backpacker haven… Yes you’ve heard them all. Thailand is a bit of all of this for everyone, a perfect place for taking in the beauty of South-East Asia. Photos of Thailand tend to picture one of those description but not always the full story.
I have a long history with Thailand, I travelled there as a child with my parents twice and the older I grew the more obsessed I became with this country and how much I wanted to go back. And then when I got back there it changed my life again. You guessed: Thailand means a lot to me and in the past 3 month we spend in this country I discovered that my love for this place didn’t left.
Beautiful, Thailand is also very varied and depending on where you will spend your time your experience might be different. There is the islands where life can take a slow path or become a real party. There is Bangkok where everything is possible. There is the unknown West, the very cultural and traditional East and the mountain of the North.
No doubt: if you come to Thailand you will find what you are looking for and the friendliness of the locals will help you feel at ease. Some people are concerned that tourism changed it all, while it might have in some towns you can still opt for a different road and hit the off the beaten path.
So what is Thailand? In a serie of 20 photos we are sharing with you the diversity and the beauty of the country. Where everything cannot be represented we do hope you will take in the beauty of the land of smile.
Get ready to be transported in Thailand, do some island hoping, discover the wildlife and mainly the people that make this country so famous. And let’s hope those 20 photos of Thailand bring you a smile and might make you want to go there (or go back.)

Another excellent selection, so far one of my favorites that you’ve compiled.
Thank you very much Bob!
Your photos reminded me a lot about our trip to Thailand last year, been to that Karen tribe and they even invited us inside their house, which was really exciting because they are living with no electricity, and they enjoyed simple life pleasures like candles all around and the sound of a hand-made guitar…
That sounds amazing! Did you also stay overnight there?
These photos are incredible, I wish I could photograph my travels like this! Especially love the kid at Songkran ๐
Wow these are excellent! The elephant and flag one are our favourites ๐
Thailand is also a very special place for me, and i’ve been back, at least once, every year since when i first went 7 years ago. Your pictures are lovely and really capture it beautifully ๐

You’re an extraordinary photographer , keep up the good work ๐
Thank you Axelle! You know how to make me blush! ๐
Guys, great photos!
The only thing, which bothers me since I’ve been to Thailand, is that most photographers don’t shoot the “negative” side of things… which builds an unrealistic picture of a destination. Honestly, to me the Thai smiles were faker than anywhere else in the world ๐ The smile is just a must for Buddhists, so I felt quite “cheated” when I realised how un-sincere those smiles were…
Sorry, had to get this off my chest ๐
But again, your photos are simply stunning! Keep up the good work ๐
Cheers, N.
No worries, I can understand that perfectly! And thank you so much for the photos!
To be fair we only had very positive experiences in Thailand (I think the most notorious one was when our motorbike broke in the middle of nowhere and a Thai police officer took his entire day off to help us get it fix, took us around, got us food, etc… he could have been relaxing at home but he met us and simply wanted to help) which, I guess, explains why most of our photos might reflect this situation.
We know live in a country we love (China) that, unlike Thailand, gets a really bad reputation from people travelling there and can see how difficult it is to fight a preconceived image of a country!
